In North Yorkshire, England, young nesting ospreys recently hatched two chicks, making these chicks the first ospreys born in the county in over 200 years. In 1916, the ospreys were hunted to extirpation, causing them to flee and struggle to find a safe place to live. After 200 years in other areas of the UK, 64 Scottish osprey chicks were released between 1996 and 2001 in to England. There are now 26 adults across at Rutland who have raised 200 chicks to independence. Efforts to restore this bird species have officially been successful.
