The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has taken a major step to help protect blue whales and other cetaceans living off the coast of Sri Lanka. They have officially altered their shipping lanes to protect the wildlife along their normal route. They will adjust their route about 15 miles south of their original path in order to protect the whales. MSC hopes that their initiative to make a difference will impact shipping companies around the world.
