Wall Street debt collecters, Jerry Ashton and Craig Antico, just passed a huge milestone in charitable history by completely paying off the medical debt for about 3.6 million Americans. In 2011, the men decided to join a small group that were determined to make a difference by paying off the medical and student loan debts of random strangers whom they’d never met. It was called the “Rolling Jubilee.” Since then, the two men have worked hard to fundraise $6.7 billion to erase medical debt, easing the financial burdens of 3.6 million Americans, or around 1% of the entire country’s population.
